Our Elders

The New Testament pattern for the Lord’s church calls for the appointment of elders in each local congregation (Acts 14:23 ; Titus 1:5; Philippians 1:1). These men must meet the qualifications specified by the New Testament (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). Elders are also referred to as bishops, shepherds, or pastors. The Cordova family is blessed to have qualified men to lead and guide us. These men have a tremendous responsibility as the shepherds of the souls of those christians under their watch and care to:

  • Feed the flock (I Peter 5:1-5)
  • Watch for their souls (Hebrews 13:17)
  • Labor in word and doctrine (I Timothy 5:17-18)
  • Protect the flock (Acts 20:28-32)
  • Exhort and convict with sound doctrine (Titus 1:9-11)
  • Be examples to the flock (I Peter 5:1-5)
