History of Cordova Congregation

The congregation met for the first time on December 18, 1977 at Auburndale School on Germantown Road.  In April 1978, the present land was purchased on Macon Road.  A building was constructed on the property and the first services were held in July of 1979.  In September 1984, an addition expanded the auditorium’s seating capacity.  Also added was an educational wing and fellowship hall.  In June of 1988, a new educational building was completed.  For several years, the facility also housed a Harding Academy of Memphis elementary school.  In 1995, the present auditorium was constructed, along with several offices and the old auditorium was converted into the fellowship hall.  In 1996, the church purchased the house next door and has used it to house preacher students and their families as they attend the Memphis School of Preaching or as a residence for our current minister.   The church is located on 5.21 acres on Macon Road approximately, one-half mile west of Germantown Road.  The property has four buildings – a 450-seat auditorium and office building, an education building, a fellowship hall and Mother’s Day Out building, and a residential home used for the minister.
